I would like to work on campus. What are my options?

On campus work does get advertised on the casual employment database but not all departments choose to or are under any obligation to do so. For instance casual Library work may be advertised but regular part time employment there will only be advertised through Sydney Recruitment.

For students seeking paid internships, SydneyTalent Intern offers the chance to gain valuable industry-specific work while completing their studies. Students are able to improve their employability skills through exposure to the workplace in meaningful, course-related employment in the knowledge that they will receive market-rate remuneration for the work they do. Study commitments are accommodated with students able to work full-time during semester breaks with the option of working part-time during the semester.

Inquire within departments before the start of semester regarding tutoring and lab assistant positions, as these must be in place early in the academic year. You might approach researchers directly regarding potential research assistant work.

Disability Services arranges peer note-takers for students with disabilities early each semester. Be paid to attend your lectures and pass on clear, comprehensive notes. Subjects needed are posted on the jobs site and the DS office will email your class directly too.

This service only advertises Human Research Ethics Committee approved ads that recruit volunteers to participate in approved research projects. Payment is usually made to cover expenses. Ads seen on public notice boards however, may not be from the university and therefore may not have such approval, always check!

Inquiries regarding work for the SRC and SUPRA, University of Sydney Union should be made directly to those organizations as they do not have to advertise here. Unistaff places office staff with at least 5 years of full time administrative experience.

Is the position still available?

CES website is usually updated during business hours Monday to Friday throughout the year. We do daily follow-up with employers, post new vacancies and extend those still available and remove those we know are filled. To maximize your chances of success view the vacancies daily and always look at the 25 most recent jobs to stay up to date as possible. Save time by keeping your CV in your Unikey or other account so you have immediate access to it from wherever you view the site.

I have problems with my employer. Where can I go for help?

Please let us know of any problems you are having with any employer advertising here. Your feedback is valued and remains confidential. For inquiries about legal issues undergraduate students can see the SRC’s locum solicitor for assistance.

If employed under Workplace Authority Pay Scales you can check the various Pay and Classification Scales online. The Workplace Ombudsman provides assistance such as recovery of wages. The Workplace Authority provides must-read information for employees entering into an Australian Workplace Agreement, or AWA.

I can't pay all my living expenses. Where can I go for help?
