Obtaining permission to work

Visit the International Office (IO) who will confirm your enrollment / course commencement with the Dept of Immigration and Citizenship (DIAC)

All questions regarding the conditions of your visa should be referred to the International Office or DIAC, for example, if you are unsure how many hours per week you can work.

Tax file numbers

Apply for your TFN online at the ATO (ATO) website once you receive permission to work. Do this early in your arrival as both permission to work and tax file numbers take some time to be processed. Your TFN is important private information and should only be given to your employer or bank and not generally put in job applications.
